Chapter 1: Introduction to Lean Six Sigma
The eight wastes, DMAIC phases, sigma levels and DPMO, value added versus non value added work, takt time, cycle time, lead time, flow, pull, kaizen, gemba, poka yoke, 5S, VOC, CTQ, SIPOC and the language of process improvement.
Chapter 2: Lean Six Sigma infrastructure
Belt levels and what each one does, Champions and Sponsors, Process Owners, Master Black Belts, project charters, tollgate reviews, project selection, team structure, the role of Finance, HR and IT, and how improvement work is governed and sustained.

- Guessing instead of reading. The answer locks once you select, so slow down.
- Skipping the explanation on questions you answered correctly. Half the learning sits there.
- Confusing Motion with Transportation. Motion moves people. Transportation moves materials or information.
- Confusing cycle time with lead time. Cycle time covers one unit through the process. Lead time runs from customer order to delivery.
- Assuming a Champion runs the project. The Champion sponsors it, funds it and clears the barriers. The Belt runs it.

- Start with 25 questions to find your weak chapter, then drill that chapter with a longer paper.
- Sit the full 105 question paper at least once before any live assessment. Endurance matters.

- Learn the DOWNTIME acronym cold. Defects, Overproduction, Waiting, Non utilised talent, Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Extra processing.
- Learn one clean sentence for each DMAIC phase. Most exam questions test the purpose of a phase, not the detail.
- Say the belt roles out loud: who leads, who sponsors, who owns the process, who mentors. Role questions carry heavy weight in Chapter 2.
🔄 Where White Belt sits in DMAIC
White Belt is not a phase tool. It is the entry level of the belt system and it covers all five DMAIC phases at an awareness level. A White Belt supports projects, contributes process knowledge, collects data and applies basic Lean thinking in daily work. Leading a DMAIC project is a Green Belt or Black Belt responsibility.
